Wild Is Life – Wildlife Sanctuary for Animals

This wildlife sanctuary is located near Harare International Airport and it offers an opportunity for guests to interact with nature and local animal species. Some animals found in this sanctuary include elephants, giraffes, lions and cheetahs.

National Botanic Gardens

Located a few kilometers north of Harare city centre, the National Botanic Gardens are home to various indigenous fauna and flora from the region. The garden has areas allocated to plants from different regions and includes the National Herbarium of Zimbabwe. The space is great for a light walk, a meal in the restaurant onsite and for plant and bird lovers. The gardens are open from 09h00 to 17h00.

Chiremba Balancing Rocks

Chiremba/Epworth balancing rocks are a national monument of naturally balancing rocks located approximately 13km southeast of Harare. Activities available are hking, site seeing and rock art viewing. The site is open from 10h00 to 17h00

Mukuvisi Woodlands 

Mukuvisi Woodlands an urban-based nature reserve and environmental education centre located in the eastern part of Harare. Visitors can take walking trails in the park and view wildlife on their own or through a booked guided tour. The park also offers horse riding and there is a cafe available with light meals.The reserve is open from 08h00 to 17h00 every day.

National Archives of Zimbabwe

The National Archives of Zimbabwe are the leading custodians and providers of the documentary of Zimbabwean history and heritage. The space boasts collections, some over 100 years old, of topics such as family and genealogical, architecture, judiciary records, early colonial history and more.

National Heroes Acre

Heroes Acre, a national memorial site located 7km from Harare City Centre is a monument that commemorates soldiers who fought and died during the Second Chimurenga War – Zimbabwe’s Liberation Struggle. The site houses graves of liberation heroes and heroines, a statue representing 3 types of soldiers, a slab commemorating the unknown soldiers lost at war and two murals depicting the journey to liberation from colonial rule and independence. The historical site is open from 9h00 to 16h30 from Monday to Friday.

Lake Chivero 

Lake Chivero is a man-made reservoir on the Manyame River located 30km southwest from Harare City Centre. The lake is within the Lake Chivero recreational park which boasts various activities for visitors. The recreational park offers fishing activities, game viewing, hiking, horse riding, camping, picnic sites and boating. The park is accessed from Harare-Bulawayo Road. The park is open Monday to Sunday from 09h00 to 18h00.
